Hawaiian Adventures

I've finally had some time away from studio renovations/puppy adventures and general craziness that I wanted to share a few photos of my recent trip to Hawaii. It was really nice to catch up with an old friend who lives there and just take in the raw beauty of it all. I am so lucky that I got to experience so much of Oahu with my most loved people in the world! I also got to camp on the beach.. yayayayaya! These are mostly nature-y pics because I cant help myself.

Love all that filtered light! Happy Weekend!

Desert Wanderlust

A few instagram pics from life lately. Spring is officially here.

Me and the old man like to drive around sometimes, and sing to the radio, and be weirdos. We went to the McDowell Mountains for a little drive and then straight to a newly opened Brewery in Scottsdale, Fate Brewing. They had some great collaborative beers which I very much enjoyed. The last two photos are from Papago Park near where I work in Tempe. Im thinking of doing a little photo shoot there with some of my new stuff. I love those red rocks!

Also I redid my Tumblr page! There are still a few more kinks to work out but I think its starting to look reeeeaal pretty!

Happy Weekend!

Katie Vernon

Ive been wandering around the internets looking for some cool affordable art or prints and I came across some beautiful illustrations by Katie Vernon. The subtle colors are just sublime. They would look cool on newly painted black walls, no?

Goings Ons

I was featured on the Etsy blog yesterday, The Indie Lines and Vintage Finds guest post by Mariah Palmer of Everything Golden, where she shared some amazing finds. I actually happened upon her blog a few months ago and loved her beautiful finds and cute DIYs, but her advocacy of wild animals is beyond cool!

I've been working on experiments and making some grand plans lately that I really hope work out well! If you follow me on Instagram, you've been seeing all of the jewelry and ceramic pieces and tests Ive been posting for my fall collection. What??! Jewelry you say??! Yes, Ive been planning for a while to do a little change in the direction of my work. Screen printing these days is tiring and has left me a bit uninspired. I still want to keep fiber work and dye at the core of what I do. Dyeing is really fun, and for anyone who hasnt tried it.... get on it! Dharma trading has all of the supplies and easy to follow instructions. I'm also going to start working in a more seasonal fashion and introduce some of my own created silhouettes, eek yay! The fall collection will feature dyed and digitally printed scarves, fiber and ceramic jewelry and hopefully a few totes (If everything goes to plan). I've had a lot of fun making some crazy t-shirts but I think its time for me to graduate into different areas.. Ive got so many ideas! I still hope to design one or two classic, perfectly fitting styles, for which my textile designs and dye patterns can go rampant. I hope you all will love what I'm working on and my new direction. Changing can be scary! Here's a few bits and pieces from life right now.

PS I wish I had a pony.

See you soon <>Karina<>

Oh happy day

Wishing you all a lovely Valentines night, if that's what you're into. I have a date with my studio.. and laundry room, oohhh la la exciting! Jimmy-Jo fixed the dish washer and installed my new bedroom light (wish I had a picture to show!! Its so awesome!) as well as a few other things, so those were my Valentines related presents. Im not really into the whole Valentiney thing anyways. He has to work late tonight so I get some much needed dye studio time with intermittent pup cuddling. Happy Thursday Valentine's day! Now here's a picture of my mom hanging with some animal friends:

2012 Recap - Through my iPhone's Eyes

I'm a file hoarder. Yes, I am. I painstakingly review all of my photos in my iPhones Photo Album to see which ones I can sadly delete for more room. Its sad, but I like it that way, Dont Judge! Currently there are 2893 photos on my new phone after deleting the expendables.
This is my new phone! Note the Palms!

(Special thanks to my boss, Craig for his photography skills)

Getting a new phone is like moving. You move all of your digital baggage, furniture and tchotchke that you've been ignoring from your old device to your shiny new phone. Only in this process you realize, you have too much stuff! New phone is pretty and only deserves the best. Scrolling through my photos reminded me that I did do some cool stuff last year and most of it I was too lazy/busy to post about. I have to urge to put a little explanation under each photos...cant help it.

New things in the works!

I have a lot of new things brewing for 2013, I hope they turn out well! Its always a bit nerve wracking when trying something different. One of those things is totally designing this blog, tumblr, website, ect. I hope to get it all pretty by my nest post!

Its been a good start to 2013, Im trying to stick to my goals and plans. I made a list of about 50 goals, some for this year and some further out. It's really dorky and something I dont really want to share just yet..
One of my goals this year is to reach out to people and get help for various aspects of trying to get this creative thing up and running. I also hope to collaborate more and be more involved with different projects and shows through the year. It gets lonely doing it all on your own!

Here's to being productive!

Happy Friday!
